Camp Pendleton Fire Creeps Closer to Orange County And San Clemente 


A Fire that sparked in Camp pendleton Talega area Friday sending smoke throughout South Orange County.  The estimated 25 acre burn made residents of San Clemente a little more nervous as it was to close for comfort.  Camp San mateo's Area's Facebook page posted an evacuation notice, and directed drivers to the already congested I-5 interstate due to Basilone road being closed.

The two other base fires continued to burn. The Las Pulgas Fire has burned 8,000 acres at the base since Thursday, and base officials said the fire was 5 percent contained as of Friday morning. The fire forced officials there to issue evacuation orders for Camp Las Pulgas, Camp Margarita, Camp Las Flores and 32 Area.
