New Hampshire House Explodes On Air As Police Respond To Shooting

A Brentwood, N.H., police officer was shot and killed before a massive house fire and explosion, officials said Monday night.

Police responding to a shooting incident today, got a little more than they bargained for as the house explodes live on the air.  Before the explosion, as more units arrived more gunfire erupted in the home.

A neighbor told the Associated Press that she saw Nolan, 86, being taken from the scene by ambulance before she was evacuated from the area. Public records indicate the house is owned by Nolan and he apparently lived in the home with his son, Mike, the AP reported.http://abcnews.go.com/US/hampshire-house-explodes-police-respond-shooting/story?id=23688435
Shortly before the explosion, media crews and others nearby were told to get back out of concerns that they might be in the line of fire. An officer was heard saying there may be a person with a long firearm in the house.

It looks as though Nolan was the one who set the duplex on fire, although it is not known why at this time.

The neighboring houses were reported to gave been evacuated, and the fire department initially stayed back due to the gunfire.  All this led up to an on air home explosion, see video below.
