No children were hit although at one point on video it appears the car did get very close to some kids.  The police had not driven through the field and decided to cut off the driver when he exited the park.

That is when a father who had kids in the park decided to make sure the stolen car did not come back towards the park if forced to turn around.  Like a premonition, once the suspect saw police he did just that.
Syracuse Police Dept stated-FOX13

“The person driving the truck could see it was turning back into the park, and he did not want the car to hit all of the children, or any of the children, and he actually pulled his truck in the way so the car collided with the truck,”
